Documentary Arts, Asia is now landless, but plans to make a gallery/theater, library & workshop space in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Why Chiang Mai? The high percent of students, NGO workers, artists, activist, & travelers makes Chiang Mai an ideal location. Chiang Mai is also very accessible from most of Thailand, Myanmar, China & Lao. Cambodia, Vietnam, India & Malaysia are also not far away.
In addition to these semi local countries we welcome anyone from any Asia country, including Indonesia, Philippines, Japan & Korea. We hope to have students from all the above countries and will be doing documentary projects in all as well.
We also welcome anyone from any country who is interested in doing or teaching any documentary art in Asia.
The center & gallery will be based in Chiang Mai, Thailand but we will be holding workshops & doing projects all over Asia.
Estimated money needed to get the center up and running 20,000$ Money already raised 20$ Gotta start somewhere!
Cost of land is the bulk of the cost. The Adobe gallery & library will be made with volunteer labor, dirt and water!
With some help from our friends at Pun Pun it will be long lasting and stylish as well as environmental and cheap.
